EU Member ​Engagement Associate (German)

Member Engagement Associates are responsible for much of the direct communication with 43 million Avaazers worldwide. They share members' ideas, feedback and concerns with the rest of the team and encourage dialogue inside our community.

The EU Member Engagement Associate works closely with both Avaaz's correspondence team and the campaigns team at Avaaz. The core responsibility of this position is managing all of the German member correspondence in a friendly, clear, and efficient way – providing excellent service to our German-speaking community, and ensuring that member subscription, donation, and campaign queries are tracked and resolved on a weekly basis.

 

In addition, the EU Member Correspondence Associate may be asked to support our campaigns team with occasional translations to German for a specific campaign or website text.

 

Responsibilities include:

 

  • Monitoring  and responding to all German member correspondence.

  • Managing donations and volunteer requests from German-speaking members.

  • Finding opportunities for strong campaigns raised by members.

  • Contributing to the monthly correspondence report with an overview of each week’s German correspondence.

  • Reporting tech issues, campaign feedback, and other member suggestions to the wider Avaaz team.

  • Assisting campaigners with translations of campaign materials or text to German as needed.

 

This position reports to an Avaaz Campaigner or member of the Member Engagement team.

 

Qualifications

  • Strong computer skills. Google mail and docs management experience preferred.

  • Extremely detail-oriented, meticulous, and self-motivated.

  • Ability to adjust quickly to changing conditions and requirements in an extremely fast-paced environment.

  • Strong teamwork skills, comfortable in a highly collaborative team culture and a hierarchical team structure.

  • Creativity for campaign tactics and strategies are a plus but not a requirement.

 

Fluency in German and English is a requirement. Additional languages are an asset.

 

Location

Avaaz is a virtual organisation, with most of our work done over email, telephone and Skype. Our staff are based in cities all over the world and meet at team retreats twice per year. Avaaz covers office costs, either to establish a home office or to rent one, and we support staff to house themselves in local similar organisations when preferred.

 

Compensation and Benefits

This is a part-time position for 16-20 hours/week. Salary varies with location and experience, but is highly competitive with leading non-governmental organisations. Benefits also range with location, but include 5 weeks paid vacation per year.
